What We Do
Hastings AMP is a group of volunteer parents who work to support music in the Hastings school district.
We helped organize parent and community support 2 years in a row to save the high school band/orchestra teacher position when it was slated to be terminated in budget cuts for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 school years.
We help offset some of the costs for the bi-annual HS music festival trip that the band, orchestra, jazz, choral and steel pan groups attend.
We hired an instructor and ran a virtual steel pan program during the 2020-21 school year when the postition was cut due to funding and pandemic restrictions.
We purchased portable music stands to help the students set up Covid safe outdoor music lessons in Sept 2020.
We coordinate decorations, food, raffles, parents and student volunteers for various in person and virtual music department events.
We coordinate professionals in the music industry to give in person demos or workshops with our students.
We coordinate student musicians to perform for the elderly.
We help connect younger and older students for a mentoring program.
We work hard to keep music alive and well in the schools and we need your help!
Run regularly scheduled master classes, workshops, and demos with local musicians and music professionals to help students understand various professions in the field of music.
Coordinate high school students with middle school and elementary school students for regular music mentoring experiences
Coordinate middle and high school students to perform for the residents at Andrus on Hudson
